Hope Acres is an equine facility specializing in Hunter/Jumper training at all levels. We are located between Ash Grove and Willard, Missouri. The riding instructor/owner/barn manager is professional, Amanda Houp.
Amanda started riding when she was 10 years old, beginning on the stalwart and reliable lesson horse, Annie. In the twelve years following, she rode and trained her personal horses--King Cole, a Trakehner, and Battle, an ex-racing Thoroughbred.
She was fortunate enough to be trained by the accomplished trainer and Grand Prix rider, Brandie Holloway at Equiventure Farm. Amanda and her horses were successful in the hunter and jumper rings, showing up to 3'9" at ‘A’ circuit shows from Estes Park, Tulsa, and St. Louis.
After high school, she earned a degree in Equestrian Science from William Woods University. There she rode Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, and Saddle Seat, experiencing a variety of horses including Quarter Horses, Morgans, Warmbloods, Saddlebreds and Friesians. At Williams Woods she took 4 years of course study on riding instruction, horse training, barn management, and even helped develop and run the first Missouri Equestrian Special Olympics. There she trained primarily under the tutelage of the renowned Linda Parkhurst.
Amanda uses her background as an experienced equestrian, along with her extensive teaching knowledge to help students learn and achieve their riding goals.
